RESPONSIVE PRAYER:

[With hearts full of appreciation, we say]
"Father, thank you for the food on our tables, the roofs over our heads, and the love in our hearts. Your daily blessings sustain us, and we are grateful."

[Together, we humbly admit]
"Lord, we confess we have sinned in thought, word, and deed. We ask for your mercy and forgiveness, knowing that you are gracious and just."

[As a united body, we pray]
"Lord, renew our hearts and minds, strengthen our desire to love and follow you, and grant us the power to resist temptation."

[As one body, we call on you]
"Holy Spirit, open our hearts and minds to understand your Word, that we may grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ."

[United in love and concern]
"We ask you to bring healing to those among us who are suffering, and grant them strength and comfort."

[With hearts burdened by love, we intercede]
"Father, guide lost souls to the light of Jesus, so they may come to know your saving grace."

[In humble adoration, we declare]
"Lord Jesus, You are the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. Yahweh, our Lord, how magnificent is Your name throughout the earth!"
• The only prerequisite for inclusion in God’s family is the agreement that there is NO prerequisite!
• Our salvation is only available through the worth of another!
• God is the Source of the new birth, and Jesus is the Door!
• When we believe / receive / accept Jesus as the Logos of God, we are born by the Spirit, with no additional effort on our part!
• Do not let anyone deceive you. The gospel is presented to us as a gift that is absolutely free!
Jesus is the true Stairway to Heaven!
Sinners are not repulsive to Jesus; sin is.
• Jesus made God’s family accessible to all people. And no one is too far gone for God to save.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

1. Discuss how we can be a family to those who lack that blessing.

2. How has someone treated you like part of their family?

3. Read John 1:9-14. Discuss John’s description for receiving the saving grace of Jesus.

4. How might this differ from some of the things we may have learned in our religious upbringing?

NEXT STEP:

•This week, I will memorize John 1:12-14.
