WHAT YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT JUDAS

Job 36:11 (KJV)
11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

1.Two key ingredients to prosperity and pleasure:

a. obedienceb. serving

Job 36:12 (KJV)
But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.

perish by the sword - things won’t go the way you planned

die without knowledge - you will try to figure out what happened

Isaiah 1:19-20 (KJV)
If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: 20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

2.The next ingredient to a God-ordained life is:

a. you must be willing

3.The three keys to the God ordained lifestyle are:

Obedience Serving Willingness

4. These require a deeper root...

Proverbs 2:20-21 (MSG)
So—join the company of good men and women, keep your feet on the tried and true paths. 21 It's the men who walk straight who will settle this land, the women with integrity who will last here.

5. Staying on course with integrity.

John 13:18 (MSG)
"I'm not including all of you in this. I know precisely whom I've selected, so as not to interfere with the fulfillment of this Scripture: The one who ate bread at my table Turned on his heel against me.

6.“Integrity” is how you are wen no one is looking.

7.This verse is a reference to Judas Iscariot.

8. Let’s look at his life for a moment.

#1.Judas constantly stole God’s money

John 12:6 (MSG)
He said this not because he cared two cents about the poor but because he was a thief. He was in charge of their common funds, but also embezzled them.

9.Surveys indicate that only 5% of American Christians tithe.

a. even ministers and leadership embezzle God by not tithing

#2.Judas skipped important prayer meetings

10.In Luke 22:39-48, Jesus asks His disciple to pray.

a.Judas is off making plans with the enemy

11.Only a handful of church members have ever come to a prayer services...

a.. even though the church should be a house of prayer

b.but because it’s not entertaining to them, they won’t attend

#3.Judas skipped important teaching sessions

Luke 22:3-4 (MSG)
That's when satan entered Judas, the one called Iscariot. He was one of the Twelve. 4 Leaving the others, he conferred with the high priests and the Temple guards about how he might betray Jesus to them.

12.Most folks are Sunday morning only Christians.

#4.Judas was comfortable fellow shipping with the Lord’s enemies

Mark 14:43 (NLT)
And immediately, even as Jesus said this, Judas, one of the twelve disciples, arrived with a crowd of men armed with swords and clubs. They had been sent by the leading priests, the teachers of religious law, and the elders.

15.Many church folks have two sets of friends: Christian and enemies of the cross.

#5. Judas never cared for the poor and needy, but only for himself

Matthew 26:14-15 (NLT)
Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve disciples, went to the leading priests 15 and asked, “How much will you pay me to betray Jesus to you?” And they gave him thirty pieces of silver.

16.Many Christians care only come to church “to get their blessing on”

a. not to serve b. sow
c. sacrifice

#6. Judas never called Jesus “Lord”, only “Rabbi”

Matthew 26:25 (MSG)
Then Judas, already turned traitor, said, "It isn't me, is it, Rabbi?" Jesus said, "Don't play games with me, Judas."

a. many Christians refuse to submit to Jesus’ lordship

b. they deem the things of God as “options”

#7.Judas was obsessed with material things

17.Many Christians are only interested:

a. in their getting their stuff

b. more than getting in His presence

#8.Judas never stayed in one place

Matthew 26:14 (NLT)
Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve disciples, went to the leading priests

18. Many ”Christians” either:

a. skip church altogether

b. or go skipping from ne church to another

- especially if they disagree with the pastor

#9.Judas was partially concerned about Jesus

Mark 14:44 (KJV)
And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.

19.Many claim allegiance to Jesus but you could not tell by their lifestyle.

a.and they hate sound doctrine teachings

b. especially if it involves correction

#10.Judas did not see his actions as betrayal

Matthew 26:25 (NLT)
Judas, the one who would betray him, also asked, “Rabbi, am I the one?” And Jesus told him, “You have said it.”

20.Do you think most Christians count their selfishness or disobedience as rebellion?

Ephesians 2:2 (NLT)
You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.

21.Disobeying God means that one is obeying the devil.

a. remember, this is talking about church folks

2 Corinthians 13:5 (MSG)
Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in the faith. Don't drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourselves regular checkups. You need firsthand evidence, not mere hearsay, that Jesus Christ is in you. Test it out. If you fail the test, do something about it.

22.In order to walk in your God given inheritance...

a.you have to meet the covenant conditions
