“I don’t believe that spirituality by itself can hold the attention of a person’s heart to the degree that they can be transformed. In order for you to hold their attention you need a level of entertainment, you need entertainment, you need education, and you need spirituality.”

Bryan Meadows
Problem 1: The deformation of the Christian
1. Accept a false Christ
“every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God.”
2. Accept a false gospel
“Whatever the gospel means, we tell ourselves, it could not mean death. Love, divine or human, could never exact something so costly…”.

William Willimon
3. Accept a false power and expectation
Problem 2: How to respond?
1. Use them as conversation starters.
2. Lead to the true gospel and the word.
3. Exalt God
THIS WEEK'S TAKEAWAYS

Key Theme:
We are called and warned to not be drug away by ANY distortion of the gospel.

Key Application:
Be discerning of any false christ, gospel, power or expectation and use every opportunity to point to the truth found only in the Word of God.

Key Verse:
Galatians 1:6- 7 “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.”

Key Questions:
1. Watch a few of the "He Gets Us" ads can you spot the “distortions”?

2. How can you proclaim in a positive way with clarity the contrasting truth to those distortions in a way that exalts Jesus?

3. Is there anyone in your life that you could ask to join you in a discovery Bible study?

Give Online

Church family, we praise God for how faithfully in so many respects you give. Our church family is undeniably generous, but we still have great needs for supplication. We ask that you give joyfully, faithfully and sacrificially in response to how our great God and Savior has given to us.
