James 5:15 says of the elders praying for the sick, “The prayer of faith will heal the sick.” Jesus said, “He who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do” (Jn 14:12).

Are these verses true?
Nine reasons why I believe that God still heals today.
1. Because of what I read in the Old Testament
The God who never changes calls Himself the healer of His people.
Later in the OT, Elijah the prophet restored the life of the son of his hostess by repeated prayer (I Kings 17:17-22).

Elisha raised from the dead the child he had prophesied would be born (2 Kings 4:18-37).

Naaman, the commander of the Syrian army was cleansed of his leprosy by the testimony of a Hebrew slave girl and the repeated washings prescribed by Elisha (2 Kings 5).
When King Hezekiah lay dying, the Lord told Isaiah
Seven hundred years before Christ, Isaiah uttered an amazing word:
Christ’s substitutionary death on the cross is somehow connected with the power for, not only forgiveness of sins, but physical healing as well.
2. Because of what I read about Jesus
Nearly 1/5 of the entire Gospels is devoted to Jesus’ healing and the discussions occasioned by it… 41 distinct instances of physical and mental healing are recorded in the Four Gospels, but this by no means represents the total.
The Apostle John concludes his Gospel with these words:
3. Because of what I read about the Apostles
The book of Acts recorded what Jesus continued to do through the Apostles by the power of the Holy Spirit.
4. Because of what I read about the 70, and others in the Book of Acts and in the Epistles.
In Acts, Peter, John, Paul, Barnabas, Steven, Philip and a “certain disciple named Ananias”, all performed miraculous healings.
Also, in Corinth, some had gifts of healing.
The Galatian Christians knew the reality of ongoing miracles, to which Paul appealed as evidence of God’s grace active in their midst (3:5).
And the letter of James makes clear that faithful prayer and anointing with oil were expected to facilitate healing (5:14).
5. Because of what I read in church history after the first century
6. Because God’s messengers still need to be authenticated
If Jesus needed to be authenticated by the works of God, how much more do we need it?
7. Because Healing Miracles Open Doors for Evangelism (Acts 9:32-43)
Acts 9:32-43 (Peter healing paralyzed man), (then Peter raised Tabitha from the dead) …Summarize
8. Because it brings glory to God
(Jn 11:1ff) Why was Lazarus raised from the dead? To glorify God.
9. Because Jesus still has compassion for people
