Repentance is the key to saving grace and sanctifying grace.

Worldly sorrow is fundamentally self centered! It revolves around the pain and embarrassment sin causes me rather than the offense and dishonor it is to God. Worldly sorrow is sorry for the consequences but not enough to change.
Godly sorrow is fundamentally God-centered. It is a continual turning from a former way of thinking and living to the life God has for us.

The right kind of sorrow has a purpose:
- Earnestness
- Eagerness to clear yourselves
- Indignation
- Alarm
- Longing
- Concern
- Readiness

Worldly sorrow lacks repentance which chokes out every opportunity for grace and redemption.
God intends sorrow to work for you not against you.
