Jesus had just escaped a stoning when He came upon a man who had been blind from birth. He miraculously healed him, which resulted in more controversy. Jesus works in the world, no matter the circumstances!

Then Jesus told him, “I entered this world to render judgment – to give sight to the blind and to show those who think they see that they are blind.”
John 9:39 (NLT)

Passage Reflection

1. Jesus was passing by when he healed the blind man. How can you prepare for a time when an opportunity presents itself?
2. Put yourself into this story. How would you react if you were the blind man? The neighbors? The Pharisees? The parents?
3. How has God worked in your life that prompts you to be grateful? How can you share this with others?
4. In verse 4, Jesus includes us in what He’s doing when He says, we must do the work. What work has Jesus asked you to do or what new thing might Jesus be asking you to do?
5. After healing the blind man, Jesus sought him out. Similarly, He pursues us after working in our lives. How do you prepare to hear from Him?
6. What did the blind man do to receive God’s power? When Jesus is working in our lives, He has things for us to do. Describe a time you experienced this in your life. How do you need God to show His power?

8. The Pharisees refused to believe that Jesus was the Messiah, no matter what He did. What hinders you from trusting Jesus as you go through the day?
