Crisis Care Kits
The NMI (Missions) Council is looking for some more hand towels for Crisis Care Kits. Our yearly shipping time (NMI Convention) is rapidly approaching. We have quite a few that are only missing towels to be ready to send. What are we talking about? Crisis Care Kits are gallon-sized bags filled with hygiene items that are prepared throughout the year. They are stored so they can be mobilized quickly during disasters as a part of Nazarene Compassionate Ministries’ worldwide disaster relief strategy. NCM moves between 6,000 to 10,000 Crisis Care Kits during a busy hurricane season. The kits have gone to places like Belize, California, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Jordan, Louisiana, the Philippines, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Ukraine, Haiti, Cuba, and Zambia. The full list of things needed for Crisis Care Kits is located in the Mission brochure and we have a collection box for supplies in the coatroom.

Egg-a-Yard (Youth Fundraiser)
Attention tired parents, long-distance grandparents, and silly prank enthusiasts! The youth group is at your service to "egg-a-yard" of your choice. Imagine the look of delight on the faces of your children (or, say, your favorite co-workers or adult siblings) when they wake up Easter morning to a yard covered in pre-filled, colorful, plastic eggs and a special note from you. The price is approximately $1 per egg, with discounts for higher volumes. Orders must be placed by Sunday, March 24. Hiding will take place on the evening of March 30. All proceeds go toward youth accounts for NYC and other events. Learn more and order: https://bit.ly/3V3OuH1

Kid's Egg Hunt
Sunday, March 24 | During the 9:00 am and 10:30am service | Changing it up this year. Kids birth through 4th grade will hunt for eggs during Children's Church on Palm Sunday. They will be dismissed after the Kids’ Moment and palm branch celebration. We would love for your kids to invite their friends! Grab egg hunt invitations from the welcome desk or children's foyer!

Manteno's Interfaith Crosswalk
Friday, March 29 | 10am | The Manteno churches come together to host this annual event where a cross is carried through our community to different churches. As we walk to each of the stops, a portion of the Easter story is read and a song is sung. A light luncheon of soup and bread will be served at the last church of the day. This year it starts at our church and ends at the Presbyterian church. The walking instructions are available at https://bit.ly/3T0UVYN

Good Friday Service
Friday, March 29 | 7pm | A time of remembrance and reflection upon our Lord’s death. We will start the service as one body with a time of singing and communion. Our kids will then be dismissed to the Children's Center and the adults and youth will transition to a Tenebrae service, a service of shadows.

Before I Go… Praying in Jesus’ Name
John 14:13-14
March 3, 2024

John 14:12
“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.”

John 14:13
“And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”

John 14:14
“You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”

John 15:7
“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”

John 15:16
“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”

John 16:23
“Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.”

John 16:24
“Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.”

John 16:26
“In that day you will ask in my name.”

“I will do whatever you ask in my name.”
-Jesus

Even Jesus didn’t get whatever he wanted when he prayed.

The bigger part of our prayers it not the “whatever” that we pray for but the authority of the name that we pray in.

People tend to make a bigger deal of unanswered prayer.
Jesus makes a bigger deal of unasked prayer.

“I will do whatever you ask in my name.”
-Jesus

“Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.”
Exodus 20:7 (KJV)

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
1 John 5:14

“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”
John 15:7
