Continuing through the Gospel of Matthew, Pastor Doug Sauder will take us through Matthew 7. Matthew 5-7: The Way of the Kingdom

Matthew 5-7: The Way of the Kingdom
hey
"People do not drift toward holiness. Apart from grace-driven effort, people do not gravitate toward godliness, prayer, obedience to Scripture, faith, and delight in the Lord. We drift toward compromise and call it tolerance; we drift toward disobedience and call it freedom; we drift toward superstition and call it faith. We cherish the indiscipline of lost self-control and call it relaxation; we slouch toward prayerlessness and delude ourselves into thinking we have escaped legalism; we slide toward godlessness and convince ourselves we have been liberated.”—D.A. Carson
"Faith is not a matter of hearing what Jesus said a long time ago & trying to live it out- instead He wants to inject His Life into you beginning to turn the tin soldier into a live man – the part of you that does not like it is the part that is still tin.”—C.S. Lewis

POINT 1: RUTHLESSLY ELIMINATE SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM YOUR LIFE
You don't have to be religious to be self-righteous, but religious self-righteousness is the worst kind!
hey
POINT 2: PURSUE GOD WITH CURIOUS HUMILITY
In the Greek, "ask," "seek," and "knock" are in what it called the present imperative verb tense. This means that the asking, seeking, and knocking are all described as continuous actions, as a consistent habit.
POINT 3: TREAT PEOPLE THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED
Easy to understand, but hard to do...
POINT 4: BE DISCERNING
There's a huge difference between being judgmental and exercising judgment.
POINT 5: LOOK FOR THE NARROW ROAD
If you want live like no one else is living, you have to do what no one else is doing.
Tell yourself the truth!

Your Generosity Changes Lives!

The Bible teaches that our spending says a lot about our heart, and in Jesus’ kindness, He gave us an example to follow! He showed us the incredible impact of generous living by giving His life to save us. So, in response to His gift to us, He calls us to give to His work and His House so others can know Him and experience the freedom, peace, and joy He offers. He will use your generosity to impact countless people and communities both here and around the world!
