February 25, 2024 / Find Your Tribe / I Love My Tribe

There are five important questions you must ask yourself in life. One of them is, “Who are my people?”. According to God, Jesus, Paul, Timothy, and all of Scripture, the church is your tribe—your people—the spiritual family from which you get comfort, encouragement, and counsel. Common faith, truth, values, purpose, mission, and future in heaven forever and ever. Your forever family! You may be new to Christ, the area, or the church, but you’re home! You just need to get to know your family in Christ!

1. TRIBES grow when it’s JESUS we follow.

Matthew 28:18-20...
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
2. TRIBES thrive on GRACE, PEACE & GRATITUDE.

Philippians 1:2-4...
2 GRACE to you and PEACE from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 3 I THANK my God in all my remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with JOY...
3. TRIBES unite when their GOAL is the Gospel.

Philippians 1:5-7...
5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. 6 And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. 7 It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel.
4. TRIBES affected by Christ’s affection prove it with how their love affects others.

Philippians 1:8...
For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus.
Charles Swindoll said this...
“In the first century it was believed that the intestines, the stomach, the liver, even the lungs, held the most tender parts of human emotions. That explains why this joyful man would use 'bowels' in reference to affection. He says, in effect, 'As I share with you my feelings, I open my whole inner being to you and tell you that the level of my affection is deep and tender.' Too many people live with the inaccurate impression that Paul was somewhat cold and uncaring. Not according to this statement; in fact, quite the contrary! When he was with those he loved, Paul went to the warmest depths in conversation and affection."
