Living on Borrowed Faithfulness
Genesis 26:1–25

We cannot settle down, living in the familiar comfort of the borrowed faithfulness of generations past. We are sojourners. God has called us to continue moving.

Re-dreaming the dream does not mean tearing down the ones that went before us. Neither does it mean glossing over their faults. Yes let’s learn from them! But we need to give them grace, just like we will also need grace.

As long as we are living on borrowed faithfulness, the story doesn’t move forward. We will keep revisiting the same places and trying the same things and making the same mistakes even though circumstances have changed.
NC4, we cannot live on the faithfulness of the past, on the obedience of the past, we have to go out on a new limb so that a new generation can encounter the goodness and faithfulness of God for themselves. This is why in 2024 we are going to re-dream the dream, and restructure for innovation and recapture a pioneering spirit.

Where have you begun to settle down into familiar comfort rather than pursuing the promise?

In what ways have you lacked grace for generations past, and lacked humility towards your own dreams?

Where do you need to pick up camp and get moving to trust God once again with the promises you have been given?

Salvation Prayer
Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for drawing me to Yourself from my darkness, my sin, and my shame. I repent of my sins, and I ask You to forgive me. I welcome You into my heart, and I surrender my future into Your hands. Guide me by Your Holy Spirit, and help me to be a reflector of Your light to those around me. Thank You for including me in Your family. Amen
