Give Your Glasses a New Face
Do you have old glasses taking up space in a drawer? In collaboration with Shine.FM and Medical Missions, we are collecting used eyeglasses (prescription, readers, etc. even if broken) to donate. Medical Missions provides routine eye exams around the world and matches patients with a pair of donated glasses so they can experience the gift of sight. Drop off your glasses in the collection box on the table near the entrance to the sanctuary.

Lenten Readings
We are looking for groups of people (2 to 4) to do some short readings on the stage during each service. We provide the script and you provide the voice. Sign up at https://bit.ly/3Hy4Q2z

iExam: Kingdom-Sighted
Matthew 6:33, 2 Peter 1:5-11
February 4, 2024

nearsightedness

What has your focus?

Matthew 6:25, 32-33
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?”
“For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

worry: a belief in what you haven’t seen

worry: a belief in what you haven’t seen
faith: a belief in what you haven’t seen

worry: a belief that your problem is bigger than your God
faith: a belief that your God is bigger than your problem

worry: prioritizes your desires
faith: prioritizes God’s will

worry is nearsighted
faith is Kingdom-sighted

Our faith develops as we prioritize what God’s Kingdom prioritizes.

2 Peter 1:5-7
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.

2 Peter 1:8-9
For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.

2 Pet 1:10-11
Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
