Society has attached a negative connotation to the word “radical,” especially in the context of religion.

The enemy wants us to be less bold, less vocal, less scripture led, less engaged – ultimately, less like Jesus.
The enemy wants us to be more complacent, more tolerant, more accepting of sin – basically, more like the world.
Radical: relating to, or affecting, the fundamental nature of something; far-reaching or thorough.
If we are to be radical – that means we will practice the fundamental nature of our faith. Our walk with God will be far reaching and thorough.
Abandoning comfortable Christianity and being radical means complete and total abandonment to Jesus.

Faith is described as the title deed – the confirmation of things divinely guaranteed.
It is the conviction that these things are real and will be realized.
Faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses.
God is calling you to a radical faith that would live fully convinced that His promises are real and will be fulfilled because He has divinely guaranteed them

Radical faith is more than a simple statement that we believe in God. It is a faith that believes in God, believes in what He did, believes His Word and promises, and motivates us to action.
Our work won’t amount to anything if we don’t believe and put our faith in God who makes that work eternally fruitful.

Our work becomes the work of God when we believe in Him.

Comfortable faith believes God for what we think is possible. Radical faith believes God for the impossible.

Comfortable faith believes God for the things we can think up and conceive. Radical faith believes God for the unimaginable.
God moves in ways no one could have imagined.
God split the Red Sea
The pre-incarnate Christ walked in the fire with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego
Jesus turned water to wine at the Wedding at Cana
Jesus made money to pay taxes appear in a fish’s mouth
Jesus called Peter out to walk on water
Radical faith not only trusts that God will move the mountain – but it also believes in Him if He doesn’t.

Sometimes, God calls us to climb the mountain we’re trying to cast into the sea.
Radical faith understands that if God is our plan A – it is a sin to have a plan B.
By walking so close to death they stopped relying on themselves and relied ONLY on God.
God rescued us from mortal danger – and He will rescue us again.
Radical faith is ACTIVE
Faith is not just a cognitive belief in God and what He did – but that our cognitive belief completely overtakes us – body, soul, and spirit – and compels us to action.

Where there is no good work, it is proof that the faith is dead because it exerts no practical influence whatever on the person’s life.

Faith that does not lead to good works is dead because your life has not been changed by your faith.

Radical faith is the beginning of the work of God, and it moves us into that work.

Radical faith must be self-denying instead of self-indulging

Radical, David Platt – “the people of the world pay the price when Christians shrink back from self-denying faith and settle into self-indulging faith.”

Dietrich Bonhoeffer said that self-denial means knowing only Christ, and no longer oneself. It means seeing only Christ who goes before us.

Whatever gains the world may claim to give, we count as loss for the sake of Christ.

The word translated for loss actually means damage or detriment.

Radical faith acknowledges that whatever gains the world promises to provide are in fact a detriment to us – they will damage us!
Radical faith comes through the fires and trials of life.
Our faith refined by the fires and trials of this life results in something imperishable as it is purified. We receive the end result of that faith – the salvation of our souls

It takes a fire to make faith radical, but I need faith to stay in the fire…what am I to do?

ASK – Hebrews 12:2 says that Jesus is the author and perfector of our faith.
Rather than giving them more faith, Jesus tells them to put what faith they have to work. Now that is radical faith.

The way to increase our faith is to put what faith we have to work.

Trust God in the fire as He refines your faith – and there is no limit to how He will use you as you put whatever faith you have into action today.

It is time to be radical.

Your Mission
~Study: Hebrews 11-12, James 2, Ephesians 2, 2 Corinthians 2, 1 Peter 1, John 6
~Confess where your faith has been comfortable not radical.
~Put whatever faith you have into ACTION!
~Tell someone else how God has rescued you and will continue to rescue you.

Worship Through Giving

Scripture tells us that the things we spend our money on reveal what is in our heart (Matthew 6:21). We believe that cheerful and sacrificial giving of our finances to the work of the local church is one of the deepest expressions of worship that we can offer and shows that we truly want to love as Jesus loved.
