PORTION OF LAKEMONT BOULEVARD TO CLOSE FOR EIGHT MONTHS • Drivers traveling Lakemont Boulevard will encounter a detour starting as early as Tuesday, October 24th. The street is expected to be closed for eight months between Forest Drive and 155th Avenue for emergency construction of a bridge over Coal Creek. The detour will direct drivers along Forest Drive Southeast to Coal Creek Parkway, then connect to Newcastle Golf Club Road.

The City of Bellevue declared an emergency earlier this year to address public safety and environmental hazards caused by a failed culvert where Lakemont Boulevard crosses Coal Creek. The culvert can no longer ensure adequate flood protection or road stability due to erosion and aging infrastructure. The city is building a bridge to secure the stability of Lakemont Boulevard at the location of the culvert. In the interim, the city is conducting daily monitoring of road stability.

“We understand the impact this closure will have on drivers traveling Lakemont Boulevard and appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we work diligently on this accelerated emergency project,” said Lucy Liu, director of Bellevue Utilities. “Public safety is our top priority, and it’s imperative this work is done to ensure the ongoing stability of the roadway.” See below to review the latest project updates.

CCE REFINANCE INVESTMENT • Calvary Chapel Eastside is looking for investors as we prepare to refinance a loan of ~$4.8M this year. One of the main ways we accomplish that is through our own LLC called Solid Ground. This financing vehicle provides up to 4% interest on a five year term, which works especially well with low yield retirement accounts. In effect, investors become part owners of property valued in excess of $16M.

YOUNG ADULTS GRACE GROUP • Calvary Chapel Eastside is launching a new mental health care group on January 3rd, 2024, for collegiate-age young men and women, ages 18-24, seeking support within a Christ centered outpatient context.

WINTER YOUTH RETREAT • Students in Grades 7-12, you are invited to join us for Winter Youth Retreat 2024! We will gather January 12-15 at Black Lake Bible Camp in Olympia, Washington. Based on teaching from Ephesians 4:4-6, this year's theme is ONE.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY | CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS • Our Children’s Ministry is seeking volunteers for all of our programs. Can you join the children as they journey with Jesus this year?

We are currently seeking teachers and helpers on Sunday mornings across our three age groups: Babies & Tots (0-2); Younger Kids (3-Kindergarten Years); 1st-3rd Grades; 4th-6th Grades.

We are also seeking a qualified Special Needs Assistant and other helpers.

MEN DISCIPLING MEN • Men Discipling Men meets in person every Wednesday at 7pm in Room 205, or you can participate via Zoom. Join us for a close look at what the Book of James teaches us about practical Christian living.

MISSIONS SPOTLIGHT | BULGARIA + UKRAINE • This month’s featured missionary is Mark Stalder. In 2005, Mark traveled to Bulgaria during the summer and winter seasons before he became a full time missionary in July, 2016, investing in the lives of young children at an orphanage in Roman, Bulgaria.

Over the years, Mark has learned the native language and has nurtured many new friendships and ministry contacts. Mark spends each day serving the homeless from a food wagon, and he facilitates short term mission teams from the United States, always serving and connecting with people who need to hear the Gospel.

In addition to his work in Bulgaria, Mark is also facilitating relief to Ukraine.
