Introduction
Isaiah 9:6 NASB
6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us;
And the government will rest on His shoulders;
And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
Romans 12:9-21 NASB
9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; 11 not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, 13 contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality.
Peace starts in the family.
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation. 17 Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.
We are called to be peacemakers. (Matt. 5:9)
Being offended is inevitable; living offended is a choice.
Sympathize/Harmonize.
Our allegiance to God should not alienate us from the world. (Luke 2:52)

Romans 12:1 NIV
12 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
19 Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 “But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Group Discussion: What is your favorite Christmas carol?

Read aloud: Read Romans 12:9-21

1.“Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; 11 not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, 13 contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality.” Which of these commands do you excel at? Which ones do you struggle with?

2.Being offended is inevitable, but living offended is a choice. How would your relationships change if you more quickly let go of the offenses you experience? Read Ephesians 4:2. What would making allowances for the faults of others look like?

3. Romans 12:1 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” How does viewing God’s mercy change how we treat our enemies?

4.“Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God,” What opportunities do we miss when we take judgment into our own hands? Who in my life do I need to show goodness?
