Introduction
This popular passage of scripture encourages us to pray. Prayer is simply communicating with God, and it involves speaking and listening. The Word reminds us that we must be persistent in prayer. Luke 11:9-10 NLT
” 9 “And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” Ask, and keep asking. Seek and keep on seeking. Knock and keep on knocking.
Too often, we ask God for the blessings, but we may have God so restricted to what they may look like that we miss the answers. We may have built a masterpiece in our minds based on the good things we think we need so much so that we ignore the better things God wants to give us. And for some of us, we may have been beaten down so much by the circumstances of life that we stop expecting to see any good at all in life.
Here's a new flash: The blessing is not the stuff but the divine favor of God which empowers one to prosper.

Conclusion
When we prioritize the pursuit of the presence of God over our desires for the presents of God, we will come to know Him as the truly loving Father that He is. All that is necessary for our needs can be found in Him. The blessings hold no significance in the absence of the One who grants the blessings. Is your motivation to engage in prayer primarily driven by a desire to get blessings or favors from God, or is it primarily centered around gaining a more profound understanding of His divine nature? Seek Him first.
