John 16:7-15
But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged. “I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.

Why was it “to our advantage” that Jesus goes away?
John 16:7
“But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.”

How will the Holy Spirit convict the world?
John 16:8
“And He, when He comes will convict the world…”

To convict means to prove one in the wrong – to bring a sense of shame.
1. He will convict people of sin and unbelief.
John 16:9
“…concerning sin because they do not believe in Me.”

If you are under conviction for sin and/or unbelief, God is not done with you!
2. He will convict people of Jesus’ righteousness.

3. He will convict people of judgment.

How will the Holy Spirit guide the church?
John 16:13
“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.”

The three members of the Godhead are connected, harmonious, indivisible, aligned and unified.

How will the Holy Spirit glorify Jesus?
John 16:14
“He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.”

To glorify Jesus means to recognize, reveal, and reflect Him for Who He is.
He wrote a book about Jesus. He helps believers become like Jesus. He finds a bride for Jesus.
The Holy Spirit is at work in your life when you are reading His book, letting Him change your life, and being the church.
