Call to Worship - A Call to Worship, drawn from sentences of Scripture, expresses God’s invitation to gather as Christ’s body in this place.

CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 46:1-3,11
He guides the humble in what is right, and teaches them his way.
The LORD sustains the humble, but casts the wicked to the ground.
For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.
He mocks proud mockers, but shows favor to the humble and oppressed.
When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.
Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. (humbles himself like a child)
For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. Matthew 23:12
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Prayer of Confession and Silent Prayer - Having praised the holiness of God, we must also face the sinful state of the world and our lives, confessing our unworthiness to enter into God’s presence. Nevertheless, we approach God with confidence, trusting in the mercy of Jesus Christ. We start this off with a communal confession and follow it up with silent and personal confession to God of our sins.

Eternal God, in whom we live and move and have our being, whose face is hidden from us by our sins, and whose mercy we forget in the blindness of our hearts: Cleanse us from all our offenses, and deliver us from proud thoughts and vain desires, that with reverent and humble hearts we may draw near to you, confessing our faults, confiding in your grace, and finding in you our refuge and strength; through Jesus Christ your Son, amen.

NICENE CREED
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Scriptures - The Scriptures bear witness to the Word of God, revealed most fully in Jesus Christ, the Word who “became flesh and lived among us” (John 1:14). Where the Word is read and proclaimed, Jesus Christ the living Word is present by the power of the Holy Spirit. The role of the congregation is to listen prayerfully, actively, and attentively to the Word that is read and proclaimed.

Offering, Doxology, Prayer of Thanksgiving - Christian life is an offering of one’s self to God. In response we sing glory to God and lift up prayer thanking him for his blessings and to continue to bless the work of the church through our offerings.
