Galatians 5:22-23
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love,joy, peace, forbearance [patience], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
How would you think this verse ends?

being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you...?
(Colossians 1:11a)
being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience. (Colossians 1:11)
All Power + Glorious Might => Endurance and Patience

“Patience” = “long-tempered”
How do we make sense of PATIENCE Biblically?

* Patience is embedded in the character of God
Exodus 34:6
And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness...
Romans 2:4
Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?
2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
How do we make sense of PATIENCE Biblically?

* Patience is imbedded in the character of God

* Patience keeps us from giving up on people
I Corinthians 13:4a
Love is patient...
Ephesians 4:2
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
I Thessalonians 5:14
And we urge you, brothers and sisters,
warn those who are idle and disruptive,
encourage the disheartened,
help the weak,
be patient with everyone.
How do we overcome impatience in our lives?
Galatians 5:22
But the fruit of the Spirit is...forbearance [patience]

Galatians 5:25
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

* Ask Jesus to supernaturally keep your heart calm

* Be ready for God to test you if you ask him for patience

* Surrender your rights and expectations to God in all of life
