Conversation Starters
Conversation Starters help us dig deeper, connecting Sunday’s sermons with our Monday lives. Please know that these questions are meant to be a resource. You do not have to follow them verbatim or get through them all. We trust you to know your group and to ask the questions based on your group needs.

1. Read Romans 3:1-20.

2. What stood out to you from the passage?

3. What stood out to you from the sermon?

4. In verses 10-18 Paul describes just how far all of humanity has turned from God. What are some areas of your personal life, the world at large, and in the Church where you can see/feel the effects of our depravity? Do you recognize any weariness in yourself/the world/the Church as we strive to be “good” on our own?

5. How will you apply this to your life? What are you going to do, be, or think differently because of this truth?

Prayer Requests

As a staff it is a privilege to pray for our congregation. Social distance does not change that! If you are in need of prayer click the link to fill out an online prayer request.

Title: We Need Rescue From Sin
Scripture: Romans 3:1-20
Speaker: Tom Nelson, TomN@cckc.church
> The Light Of Truth Illuminates Our True Condition
"The battleline between good and evil runs through the heart of every man."
- Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, Gulag Archipelago
"The Bible presents sin by way of major concepts, principally lawlessness and faithlessness, expressed in an array of images: sin is the missing of a target, a wandering from the path, a straying from the fold. Sin is a hard heart and a stiff neck. Sin is blindness and deafness. It is both the overstepping of a line and the failure to reach it — both transgression and shortcoming. Sin is a beast crouching at the door. In sin, people attack or evade or neglect their divine calling. These and other images suggest deviance: even when it is familiar, sin is never normal. Sin is disruption of created harmony and then resistance to divine restoration of that harmony. Above all, sin disrupts and resists the vital human relation to God, and it does all this disrupting and resisting in a number of intertwined ways. Sinful life.. is a partly depressing, partly ludicrous caricature of genuine human life…All sin is equally wrong, but not all sin is equally bad." (Plantinga, Not the Way It’s Supposed to Be, 5)
> The Light Of Truth Illuminates Our Desperate Need
“...the principle enunciated here has universal application: nothing a person does, whatever the object of obedience or the motivation of that obedience, can bring him or her into favor with God.” - Doug Moo
> The Light Of Truth Illuminates God’s Great Love
