Conversation Starters help us dig deeper, connecting Sunday’s sermons with our Monday lives. Please know that these questions are meant to be a resource. You do not have to follow them verbatim or get through them all. We trust you to know your group and to ask the questions based on your group needs.
1. Read Romans 2:17-29.
2. What stood out to you from the passage?
3. What stood out to you from the sermon?
4. Consider the accusation in verse 24: “The name of God is blasphemed among the gentiles because of you.” While most of us do our best to follow the commands of God, the reality is that we all fail sometimes. How might we, as Christ followers, assume a posture that displays humility instead of hypocrisy when we do fall short?
5. How will you apply this to your life? What are you going to do, be, or think differently because of this truth?

> No one likes a fake.
> We all wrestle with being fake.
> Christians have a problem with being fake.
> When we show up fake, we make God look fake.
I wanted to know his real thought about the chief obstacle in his own country which prevented the spread of Christianity. He answered, “Christianity as it is practiced, as it has been identified with Western culture, with Western civilization and colonialism. This is the greatest enemy that Jesus Christ has in my country—not Hinduism, or Buddhism, or any of the indigenous religions—but Christianity itself.” - Howard Thurman, With Head and Heart
> We lose sight of what is real.
> Let God shape the real, secret you.
