Mercy: compassionate or kindly forbearance shown toward an offender, an enemy, or other person in one’s power; not giving someone what they deserve.
We’ve become great judges of others’ sin but great lawyers of our own.
WHY BE MERCIFUL TO OTHERS?
1. REMIND OURSELVES OF GOD’S MERCY TO US
2. GOD COMMANDS ME TO BE MERCIFUL
3. REMEMBER WE WILL ALL FACE GOD ONE DAY
Matthew 18:33 LB
33 shouldn’t you have mercy on others, just as I had mercy on you?’
4. MERCY BRINGS HAPPINESS
Matthew 5:7 LB
7 Happy are the kind and merciful, for they shall be shown mercy.
HOW DO I SHOW MERCY?
1. BE PATIENT WITH EACH OTHER
Ephesians 4:2 LB
2 Be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.
2. HELP THOSE WHO ARE HURTING
3. VALUE RELATIONSHIPS OVER RULES
4. BE SECOND CHANCE PEOPLE
“To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable because God has forgiven the inexcusable in me.” ~C.S. Lewis
Be merciful to those who make mistakes
Be merciful to those who let you down
“Unfaithfulness is wrong. Revenge is worse. But the worst part of all is that without forgiveness, bitterness is all that is left.
~Max Lucado
Be merciful to those who offend you
Be merciful to those who are far from God
Jesus connected before He corrected.
Be merciful to yourself
