Conversation Starters
Conversation Starters help us dig deeper, connecting Sunday’s sermons with our Monday lives. Please know that these questions are meant to be a resource. You do not have to follow them verbatim or get through them all. We trust you to know your group and to ask the questions based on your group needs.

1. Read Romans 2:1-16.

2. What stood out to you from the passage?

3. What stood out to you from the sermon?

4. In verse 13, Paul says that “doers of the law will be justified.” How can this be reconciled with verses such as Romans 3:28 that claim we are justified by faith, not works? What do you think Paul means in verse 13 within the context of the rest of this passage?

5. How will you apply this to your life? What are you going to do, be, or think differently because of this truth?

Prayer Requests

As a staff it is a privilege to pray for our congregation. Social distance does not change that! If you are in need of prayer click the link to fill out an online prayer request.

Title: We Need Rescue From Religion
Reference: Romans 2:1-16
Speaker: Bill Gorman, BillG@cckc.church
> We long to be found good enough on the scales of justice.
> We’ve all got the same verdict
> We’ve all got the same Judge
"Condemning others while excusing ourselves is what allows us to hang onto both our self-righteousness and our sin. We can feel good about ourselves while indulging in what makes us feel good…. [But] when we rely on anything or anyone but Jesus to give us righteousness, we are refusing to accept the gospel. Relying on God's rules is as much self-reliance and God-rejection as ignoring God's rules." (Keller, Romans 1-7 For You)
> We’ve all been called to the same response
> God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance…
"Be sure there is something inside you which, unless it is altered, will put it out of God’s power to prevent your being eternally miserable. While that something remains there can be no Heaven for you, just as there can be no sweet smells for a man with a cold in the nose, and no music for a man who is deaf. It’s not a question of God ‘sending’ us to Hell. In each of us there is something growing up which will of itself be Hell unless it is nipped in the bud. The matter is serious: let us put ourselves in His hands at once – this very day, this hour." -Lewis
