The first rule of good biblical interpretation is discovering what a text meant to the original people it was written to before you make present day application.

I’m not asking you to CHANGE what you believe.

For 1,740 years the Church interpreted Revelation differently than we do today.

To properly interpret the Book of Revelation you need to understand it’s MESSAGE and PURPOSE.

99% of what we teach about Revelation is FEAR based, which produces an ESCAPIST Mindset.

Jesus NEVER taught ESCAPISM.

ONLY 5% of Revelation is about FUTURE EVENTS.

95% of Revelation was written to address Current Events not Future Events.

One purpose of Revelation was to address the CONDITION OF THE CHURCH.

The term “Babylon” in Revelation refers to the UNGODLY SYSTEMS and STRUCTURES that operate politically and culturally in a society.

A dissident is someone who PUBLICLY stands against and opposes the presence of Babylon or the evils systems that have crept into the Church and the State.

Revelation is a manual for Dissident Disciples on HOW THEY ARE TO LIVE and HOW THEY CAN BE VICTORIOUS over Babylon in their generation!

The MESSAGE of the Book of Revelation is to ENCOURAGE believers of ANY GENERATION who are suffering and being persecuted for their Faith that THEY WILL WIN CONVINCINGLY IN THE END if they stay true the teachings and ways of Jesus while living in Babylon!

Revelation is Apocalyptic literature.

It is a style of literature that engages the senses using Symbolism, Wild and Fantastical Imagery, and Hyperbole to describe Messiah’s convincing victory over the systems of this world in the end!

Apocalyptic literature uses symbolic, exaggerated imagery to make the singular point that it’s going to be a CONVINCING SLAM DUNK VICTORY FOR JESUS OVER EVERY ENEMY.

Revelation WAS NOT written to instill FEAR in us, it was written by a loving God who wanted to instill HOPE in us and ENCOURAGE us that no matter how dark things get WE WIN IN THE END!

The MAIN FOCUS and PURPOSE of the Revelation is to teach us how to live as Dissident Disciples in Babylon.
