Young Adult Dinner
Sunday, September 3 | 11:15am | Young adults - Sunday dinners are back. They will usually be the first Sunday of the month this year. Invite your friends, roommates, and countrymen.

Two Services
Sunday, September 10 | Due to growth and growth to come, we are splitting into two services. They will be at 9am and 10:30am. Wondering about your kids? Exactly the same, except two different services and you have to pick your kids up after each service. No children's programming between services.

Journey Groups
Sunday, September 10 | Journey Groups will be back for the Fall session the week of September 10 (why yes, that is the same day we go to two services.) Check out a list of Journey Groups to choose from at: https://bit.ly/47rTOaS , at the welcome desk, or on our website. Our Student Ministries Journey Groups will also be starting at this time.

Wednesday Night Dinner
Wednesdays | Starting September 13 | 5:30-6:15pm | Bring the whole family out and we’ll take care of preparing dinner. The suggested donation for an individual is $4 or feed the whole family for no more than $20. Great food, great fellowship, and a great deal! Just to make it easier for planning, could let us know if you are coming to the first dinner? https://forms.gle/ZyRLm8GoHpP7JwFu9

Student Ministries Rummage Sale
September 21-23 | It is almost time for our students' annual Oktoberfest garage sale. They start taking donations, on Sunday, September 17.

Alabaster Offering
Sunday, September 24 | Alabastor offering is an additional offering that we take for global missions that provide funds for property and buildings for churches and missionaries around the world. The name is based on the story of the woman who poured perfume on Jesus's feet. One avenue of giving is Alabaster boxes. Earlier this year, we distributed boxes to collect change in and we encourage people to bring those boxes in. We will be taking an offering September 24 of those boxes and other monies.

Craft & Vendor Fair
Saturday, December 2 | Student Ministries will be hosting their annual Craft and Vendor Fair this year. Contact Melody Grimm or Pastor Marcus for more information on being a vendor.

Employment
We are still looking for a part-time custodian. Go to the employment page under resources on the church website, www.mantenonazarene.org, if you are interested or want more information.

Children's Help Still Needed
Pastor Amy is still looking for some more volunteers for this semester. She is looking for 1 more second-service K-4th grade helper (just once a month); 2 more Wednesday night preschool helpers (one or two times a month); and 1 more Wednesday night K-4th grade helper/small group leader (twice a month for the school year).

MC Milestones
Have you heard that our church is beginning something new and exciting with the seniors in our church and community? It is called MC Milestones. You will be hearing more about this senior initiative in the weeks to come. Questions? Curious? Call or text Teddie Hill at 815-386-0607 or email at MCMilestonesDirector@gmail.com.

Battle Belongs
Expand
Verse 1
When all I see is the battle
You see my victory
When all I see is a mountain
You see a mountain moved
And as I walk through the shadow
Your love surrounds me
There's nothing to fear now
For I am safe with You

Chorus
So when I fight I'll fight on my knees
With my hands lifted high
O God the battle belongs to You
And every fear I lay at Your feet
I'll sing through the night
O God the battle belongs to You

Verse 2
And if You are for me
Who can be against me
For Jesus there's nothing
Impossible for You
When all I see are the ashes
You see the beauty
When all I see is a cross
God You see the empty tomb

Bridge
(An) Almighty Fortress You go before us
Nothing can stand against
The power of our God
You shine in the shadows
You win every battle
Nothing can stand against
The power of our God

Milestones: 4 More
September 3, 2023

Nothing can thwart God’s will when he has a people who agree with his will.

Dependence on your weakness rather than on God’s strength will result in getting stuck between milestones.

You have to leave something behind to go to somewhere new.

“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”
Philippians 4:13

“I can’t” always looks backward.
“I can” always looks forward.

Remember the past to learn from it, not to live in it.

Philippians 3:12-14
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Reactive Change:
“Change happens when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change.”

Proactive Change:
Changing even when the pain of change is greater than the pain of staying the same.

Reactive Change is motivated by fear. Proactive Change is motivated by hope.

Isaiah 43:18-19
“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.
Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)
Expand
Verse 1
You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep my faith will stand

Chorus 1
And I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Verse 2
Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sov'reign hand will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You've never failed and You won't start now

Interlude
Oh and You are mine oh

Bridge
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour

Interlude
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Oh Jesus yeah my God

Chorus 2
I will call upon Your name
Keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in Your embrace
I am Yours and You are mine
