Young Adult Dinner
Sunday, September 3 | 11:15am | Young adults - Sunday dinners are back. They will usually be the first Sunday of the month this year. Invite your friends, roommates, and countrymen.

Two Services
Sunday, September 10 | Due to growth and growth to come, we are splitting into two services. They will be at 9am and 10:30am. Wondering about your kids? Exactly the same, except two different services and you have to pick your kids up after each service. No children's programming between services.

Journey Groups
Sunday, September 10 | Journey Groups will be back for the Fall session the week of September 10 (why yes, that is the same day we go to two services.) Check out a list of Journey Groups to choose from at: https://bit.ly/47rTOaS , at the welcome desk, or on our website. Our Student Ministries Journey Groups will also be starting at this time.

Wednesday Night Dinner
Wednesdays | Starting September 13 | 5:30-6:15pm | Bring the whole family out and we’ll take care of preparing dinner. The suggested donation for an individual is $4 or feed the whole family for no more than $20. Great food, great fellowship, and a great deal! Just to make it easier for planning, could let us know if you are coming to the first dinner? https://forms.gle/ZyRLm8GoHpP7JwFu9

Student Ministries Rummage Sale
September 21-23 | It is almost time for our students' annual Oktoberfest garage sale. They start taking donations, on Sunday, September 17.

Alabaster Offering
Sunday, September 24 | Alabastor offering is an additional offering that we take for global missions that provide funds for property and buildings for churches and missionaries around the world. The name is based on the story of the woman who poured perfume on Jesus's feet. One avenue of giving is Alabaster boxes. Earlier this year, we distributed boxes to collect change in and we encourage people to bring those boxes in. We will be taking an offering September 24 of those boxes and other monies.

Craft & Vendor Fair
Saturday, December 2 | Student Ministries will be hosting their annual Craft and Vendor Fair this year. Contact Melody Grimm or Pastor Marcus for more information on being a vendor.

Employment
We are still looking for a part-time custodian. Go to the employment page under resources on the church website, www.mantenonazarene.org, if you are interested or want more information.

Nursery Attendant
Sharon Kilpatrick has been hired as our nursery attendant as we are going into two services. She will be a consistent familiar face that will be in the nursery on Sunday mornings, both services, ready to care for your bundles of joy. Congratulations Sharon!

Children's Help Still Needed
Pastor Amy is still looking for some more volunteers for this semester. She is looking for 3 more second-service K-4th grade helpers (just once a month); 2 more Wednesday night preschool helpers (one or two times a month); and 2 more Wednesday night K-4th grade helper/small group leaders (twice a month for the school year).

Grander earth has quaked before
Moved by the sound of His voice
Seas that are shaken and stirred
Can be calmed and broken for my regard

It is well
Through it all through it all
My eyes are on You
And it is well with me

Even when my eyes can't see
And this mountain that's in front of me
Will be thrown into the midst of the sea

The waves and wind still know His name

Milestones: Monuments
Joshua 4:1-9; Judges 3
August 27, 2023

Someone else’s milestone can have great significance for you.

Your milestones can have great significance for someone else.

Judges 3:19
On reaching the stone images near Gilgal he himself went back to Eglon

Joshua 4:1-9
When the whole nation had finished crossing the Jordan, the Lord said to Joshua, “Choose twelve men from among the people, one from each tribe, and tell them to take up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, from right where the priests are standing, and carry them over with you and put them down at the place where you stay tonight.”
So Joshua called together the twelve men he had appointed from the Israelites, one from each tribe, and said to them, “Go over before the ark of the Lord your God into the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, to serve as a sign among you.
In the future, when your children ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’ tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.”

Joshua 4:8-9
So the Israelites did as Joshua commanded them. They took twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, as the Lord had told Joshua; and they carried them over with them to their camp, where they put them down. Joshua set up the twelve stones that had been in the middle of the Jordan at the spot where the priests who carried the ark of the covenant had stood. And they are there to this day.

Milestone Monuments: when our stories continue to teach long after we have no voice.

Joshua 4:24
“[The Lord your God] did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful...”

Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning
New mercies I see
All I have needed
Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness
Lord unto me

Verse 1
Great is Thy faithfulness
O God my Father
There is no shadow
Of turning with Thee
Thou changest not
Thy compassions they fail not
As Thou hast been
Thou forever wilt be

Verse 2
Summer and winter
And springtime and harvest
Sun moon and stars
In their courses above
Join with all nature
In manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness
Mercy and love

Verse 3
Pardon for sin
And a peace that endureth
Thy own dear presence
To cheer and to guide
Strength for today
And bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine
With ten thousand beside
