NOTES | Biblical Christianity and Culture Conflict
Colossians 2:6-10
Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude. See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority…
“Christ is not only God, but He’s CREATOR, CENTER of the universe and RECONCILER of mankind.”
Colossians 1:15-17
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
Embrace the person and truth of Jesus by faith.

Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him…v. 6
Colossians 2:7
…having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed…
Your faith grows over time – day by day.
Your faith grows as you’re exposed to prayer and the Word.
Your faith grows by knowing Christ’s character and trusting His commands every day.
Psalm 1:1-3
How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers.
Resist the principles of the world by faith.

Colossians 2:8
See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.
“Philosophy” is the current wisdom of the age contrary to biblical truth.
“Empty deception” is fruitless and unproven speculation.
“Tradition of men” is an idea, practice or theory that is man-made.
James 3:15
This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic.
The greatest lens a person can view the world through is a Biblical Worldview.
How do we deal with Culture Conflict?
1. Cling tightly to the Scripture for absolute truth about life.

Jude 1:3
…contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints.
2. Trust the power of the gospel to change lives and society.
3. Remember your importance of shining light and preserving culture.

Matthew 5:13-16
“You are the salt of the earth…you are the light of the world…let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
