A New Name In Glory (New Name)
Expand
Verse 1
I was once a sinner but I came
Pardon to receive from my Lord
This was freely given and I found
That He always kept His word

Chorus
There's a new name
Written down in glory
And it's mine
O yes it's mine
And the white-robed
Angels sing the story
A sinner has come home
For there's a new name
Written down in glory
And it's mine
O yes it's mine
With my sins forgiven
I am bound for heaven
Nevermore to roam

Verse 2
I was humbly kneeling at the cross
Fearing naught but God's angry frown
When the heavens opened and I saw
That my name was written down

Verse 3
In the Book 'tis written
Saved by grace
O the joy that came to my soul
Now I am forgiven and I know
By the blood I am made whole

Yes I am

Verse 2
Free at last
He has ransomed me
His grace runs deep
While I was a slave to sin
Jesus died for me
Yes He died for me

Chorus 2
In my Father's house
There's a place for me

PRESENCE
Exodus 33:12-23
Rob Merki
June 18, 2023

Consider how Exodus reads, especially in the chapters leading up to our text. Ch. 16:2 – “The entire Israelite community grumbled…” – about food!

Ch. 17:2 – “So the people complained…” – about water!

Ch. 21-31 are God’s instructions to the people – 10 Commandments and laws and laws and laws and laws and instructions and promises and plans for the Tabernacle and instructions and… there’s a lot going on there.

And God is angry in ch. 32 and early in Exodus 33; God is so angry that He tells Moses and Israel that He will not go with them because they are a stiff-necked people. God continues: “Otherwise, I might destroy you on the way.”

How does Moses respond to the situation?
He sought God’s Favor (12-13)
He Sought God’s Face (15-16)
He Sought God’s Fullness (18)

1. What does seeking God’s favor look like?

And the Lord responds, “My presence will go with you and I will give you rest.” Do you need rest? Rest is found in the presence of God.

2. What, then, does it look like to seek God’s face?

Moses pleads with God, “Don’t make us leave this place if You are not going with us.”

And he continues with a question, “How will anyone know we have Your blessing if You, God, aren’t with us?”

And Moses drives home his point with the question of the hour, "What else, but Your presence, God, will distinguish me and Israel from anyone else?”

That’s the question we, as followers of Jesus must ask.

In essence, Moses is saying, “I am nothing without you, God.”

What defines you? What distinguishes you? What sets you apart? Who are you and I outside relationship with God?

Seek God’s face! Desire His presence! You are God’s child, His treasure, His beloved, God’s possession, His redeemed…

And seeking God’s favor and His face will lead us to seeking His fullness.

3. So, finally, seek God’s fullness – His glory. Moses said to God, “Show me Your glory!”

“And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”

“All my life You have been faithful. All my life You have been so, so good. With every breath that I am able, I will sing of the goodness of God.” Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me…”
Glorious Day (Living He Loved Me)
Expand
Verse 1
One day when heaven was filled with His praises
One day when sin was as black as could be
Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin
Dwelt among men my example is He
The Word became flesh
And the light shined among us
His glory revealed

Chorus
Living He loved me dying He saved me
Buried He carried my sins far away
Rising He justified freely forever
One day He's coming
O glorious day (glorious day)

Verse 2
One day they led Him up Calv'ry's mountain
One day they nailed Him to die on a tree
Suffering anguish despised and rejected
Bearing our sins my Redeemer is He
The hand that healed nations
Stretched out on a tree
And took the nails for me

Verse 3
One day the grave could conceal Him no longer
One day the stone rolled away from the door
Then He arose over death He had conquered
Now is ascended my Lord evermore
Death could not hold Him
The grave could not keep Him
From rising again

Bridge
One day the trumpet will sound for His coming
One day the skies with His glories will shine
Wonderful day my beloved one bringing
My Savior Jesus is mine

Ending
O glorious day glorious day
O glorious day
