Jesus Reigns Over the Natural and Supernatural World [Sunday, June 4, 2023] Greg Burlile
**Jesus Reigns Over the Natural World (8:22-25)
**Jesus needed sleep. He had a human nature as well as a divine nature.
Hebrew 4:14-16
14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
**We are prone to forget what the Lord has done for us in the past when we are faced with a crisis in the present.
**Jesus spoke a word to the wind and the waves and the storm stopped! This shows Jesus’ divine power and speaks to Jesus’ identity.
Psalm 107:23-30
23 Some went down to the sea in ships,
doing business on the great waters;
24 they saw the deeds of the Lord,
his wondrous works in the deep.
25 For he commanded and raised the stormy wind,
which lifted up the waves of the sea.
26 They mounted up to heaven; they went down to the depths;
their courage melted away in their evil plight;
27 they reeled and staggered like drunken men
and were at their wits' end.
28 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
29 He made the storm be still,
and the waves of the sea were hushed.
30 Then they were glad that the waters were quiet,
and he brought them to their desired haven.
Psalm 89:8-9
8 O Lord God of hosts,
who is mighty as you are, O Lord,
with your faithfulness all around you?
9 You rule the raging of the sea;
when its waves rise, you still them.
** “Where is your faith?” = Remember who it is who is with you
