SERIES OVERVIEW:
For the season of Lent, we will be reading through the book of Matthew, focusing on Jesus as the fulfillment of the long-awaited Messiah by the people of Israel. This should help tie both the New Testament and the Old Testament together as we see the book of Matthew constantly fulfilling passages from the Old Testament that longed for a Messiah, as the answer to their problems. We will also focus on the concept of the Kingdom of God as being both present now here on Earth with the beginning of Jesus' ministry, and in the future with the return of Christ to Earth.

For as long as we have had written scripture, there have been those who want to throw out the truth of the Old Testament. Jesus embraced the teaching of the Law of Moses, and this passage helps us to understand that the witness of Jesus Christ is that He came to fulfill the Law of Moses with His ministry. We will talk about why the Old Testament mattered to Jesus and why it should still matter to us.
