Marriage is God’s idea, and it is holy. The context for all loving, intimate, sexual relationships between one man and one woman is marriage.
The core-value of every man is respect which means his deepest need is respect. Mutual submission for a wife means to respect your husband as unto the Lord.
Most Christian women love their husbands and genuinely want to honor and respect them. But, like us men, many times you ladies are interpreting actions, decisions, and responses through a distorted filter that causes you to feel unloved.
Respecting your husband begins with respecting your differences. He is not a woman, he will never be a woman, and it is impossible for him to think and act like you. So, honor those differences instead of criticizing or comparing them to others.
When his need is met, his heart is opened, and he becomes the person you dated, fell in love with, and wanted to marry. The truth is it was his differences that attracted you to him. When you dated him, you respected Him, and celebrated what made him your man.
As a man, he is called to his work (the field); as a woman you are called to the family. When you respect his desire to succeed and provide through his work, you honor him and empower him to succeed in family.
As a man, he desires his wife sexually; when you respect his sexual desires, you meet a need in his life only you, as his wife, can meet. It was his desire for you that attracted you to him and made you want to marry him in the first place.
God, in his wisdom, created a supernatural dependency that requires humility and sacrifice for relationships to thrive. He asks us to give what doesn’t come naturally, because He wants us to live supernatural lives.
