Ice Breaker: Did you have any goals for 2023? Have you experienced any roadblocks that have halted your progress?
We are starting a brand new series about Faith and how to "Keep on Truckin'" in the midst of fear, worry, and doubt. This series is going to help empower us to keep on going, but before we get started, take a moment and reflect on what Faith is. What does Faith mean to you?
The problem is that the object or focus of our faith often becomes a situation or an outcome. This means that our faith is at the mercy of our circumstances. Have you experienced a time in your life when your faith felt hinged to an outcome?
Our faith must not be in situations but in Someone. It must be in Who holds it all together, Jesus Christ Himself. Read Jeremiah 17:7-8.
Read 2 Corinthians 5:7. What does it mean to "live by sight"?
Read Galatians 2:20 and Hebrews 12:2. How do these 2 verses illustrate a faith that is put in Someone as opposed to situations?
Pastor Jonathan reminded us that Jesus never promised us a certain set of circumstances. He promised His presence. How does this change your attitude or approach to life? Remember, ultimately, it's not about how much faith you have, but Who your faith is in. Matthew 17:20 reminds us of this.
Pray that over the next few weeks, God reveals to us how faith in Jesus is the key to dealing with fear, worry, and doubt. Human-sized Faith in a Great God is the difference.
