The first thought most people have is practical: It’s how we fund the Church.
Tithing is how God has chosen to BLESS us.

Perspective
“I work all week long and earn this money, and then I have to give 10% to God?”

Doctrine

Our doctrine teaches us that God, as creator has OWNERSHIP of the creation.
God owns all human life, because He created it. He is Elohim, He is God, creator.

God owns everything
We would have nothing unless God had given it to us.
The way that we honor and recognize that everything belongs to God is through TITHING.

The way God has chosen to bless you (Deuteronomy 26)
When we give our tithe, it is a form of WORSHIP to God.

Vs 11 Then you shall rejoice in every good thing that the Lord your God has GIVEN to you and your house, you and the Levite and the stranger that is among you.

You and I would have nothing to give to the Lord unless He had given it to us first.

Tithing in the Third Year
The third years tithe was specifically for the Levites, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow.

The Holy Tithe
Vs 13 Then you shall say before the Lord your God: I have removed the holy tithe from my house and also have given them to the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow according to all your commandments which you have commanded me.

Part of the ceremony of giving was that the Israeli’s had to say: I have REMOVED the Holy tithe from my house and I have given it to the Levites, stranger, fatherless, and widow.

Keeping God’s Holy tithe for yourself is disrespectful and disobedient. The tithe is Holy. It belongs to God and we are to bring it to God as an act of worship.

Blessing
When we tithe, we are PARTICIPATING in God’s covenant of blessing.

TITHING IS HOW GOD HAS CHOSEN TO BLESS HIS PEOPLE.

In TITHES and offerings!
They had kept the tithe back for themselves and God said, this is robbery! Will a man rob God?

Cursed
Vs 6 You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed me, even the whole nation.

When we keep the Holy Tithe we are under a curse, which means the enemy can attack and devour our things.

THE ENEMY WILL ALWAYS TAKE MORE THAN 10%!

BUT WHEN WE TITHE…. the Lord says that He will open the windows of heaven and pour out blessing there will not be room enough to receive it. And He will REBUKE the devourer so that he cannot destroy our income.

God will bless you! God will abundantly provide for you when you put Him first and when you honor Him with your tithes and offerings.

Try Me
We aren’t to test the Lord, but this is one area where the Lord actually says: TEST me!
And see if I won’t open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing that you can’t contain!

The Blessing is for those who OBEY
I cannot bless you, if you do not obey God.

Blocking Blessing
If you do not tithe and you know you should, you are under a CURSE and no one can reverse it.
I cannot bless those of you who are under God’s curse. Repent and put yourself under God’s blessings.
