Theme: Jesus takes the time to teach about the very thing He is modeling. Humility! The temptation today is to raise your credibility, platform or influence through flaunting your accomplishments. The desire for an increased social status comes at the price of humility. Christians often claim to have humility, but once you claim to have it, you lose it. Pride seeks reward in the present, humility finds reward in eternity. Do not grow weary, nor think too much of yourself. Build up others in Christ, then watch what only God can do!
We must be careful in our pursuit of God, not to think that we are more important than the calling He has given us. #humility

Conclusion [Tony Evans Bible Commentary)
The Pharisees exalted themselves, assuming that they held important positions in the kingdom. But Jesus sought to teach them the relationship between humility and exaltation. We are to live with an eternal perspective in mind—not with a desire for notoriety. Followers of Christ are not to exalt themselves by presumptuously seeking positions of greatness; rather, they are to assume lower positions of service and allow God to exalt them. Humility is the true path to glory.
