Marriage is important to God and because marriage is important to God it should be important to us.
Marriage, sex, relationships, intimacy was God’s idea, and when he created it he boldly started that it was GOOD.

First Law: The Law of Priority.
This is expressed in the phrase “a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife.”

In terms of priority, our marriages have to be placed before all other earthly relationships.
Second Law: The Law of Pursuit.
“This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife.”
KJV - “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife….: and they shall be one flesh.
"Cleave" -original language it means to pursue with all your energy.

Life comes when we pursue God with all our energy! And in the same way, God is telling us, with the same word, that we are supposed to leave then cleave (pursue) our spouse with all of our energy.

Third Law: The Law of Possession.
Marriage is about sharing everything, as revealed in Genesis 2:24 "This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.”

Selfishness in Marriage - Practicals ways this is played out:
1. Separate bank accounts
2. One person in the marriage being domineering or making all of the decisions
3. Ultimately it’s areas where we are selfish, and are unwilling to share/or trust

Concerning finances a healthy marriage should look like this:
1. Both individuals have access to the funds regardless of who brings in the most money.
2. Both individuals agree on a budget and how much is appropriate to spend on each other and yourself.
The biggest stress factor is how money was spent in marriage.

The Fourth Law: The Law of Purity.
“Verse 25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed."
Adam and Eve were completely exposed to each other - physically, mentally, emotionally until sin took that intimacy away. Sin forced them into hiding from each other.

Problems in marriage regarding purity:
- Men struggle in the area of purity - by not sharing their intimate thoughts and feelings
- Women could struggle in the area of purity - because they struggle opening up physically with their husbands.
Remember- The Law of Purity says, they were both naked and unashamed: Emotionally, Physically, Spiritually
We need to be talking to our spouses about their personal walk with the Lord!

It’s one where they take the Law of Purity seriously!
It’s a marriage where a husband and wife can talk to each other about anything and everything, regarding themselves, without fear of consequences.
