There are so many ways the bible describes the church – from a family, to an army, to a body, and even a building. And each of these pictures gives us some indication of what the church is designed to be like. But one thing that is consistent to all these images is that there is an interdependence on one another. According to the bible, there is no such thing as a lone Christian. Paul teaches us that the dividing walls that separated us outside of our faith are all demolished in Jesus and we have been added to this spiritual community in which he dwells by his Spirit. The church is a precious gift and one where we can learn to accept and love people different to ourselves and to receive their acceptance and love too.
