BOTTOM LINE: My biggest mark will be left on my smallest circle.

Acts of the Apostles 18:1-3

1. Wherever I live and work is where I have the most influence.

Acts of the Apostles 18:4-6

2. I won't have influence with everyone.

Acts of the Apostles 18:7-8

3. People I can't influence will be reached by people I can influence.

Acts of the Apostles 18:24-26

4. Reaching my own circle has ripple effects far beyond what I could imagine.
START TALKING

Who do you know that leaves a mark anywhere they go with something or some things that get accumulated and left behind?

What do you seem to accumulate that would leave no doubt you have been somewhere if someone who knows you walked in and saw what was left behind?

START THINKING

Read Luke 12:1-12. What is Jesus talking about to this crowd? What are some of the big, theological and doctrinal issues you see?

Now read verse 13. How out of context is what this man says? Why do you think this is what he says in the middle of what Jesus is teaching?

What do you think it means that he tells Jesus what to do instead of asking Jesus what he should do?

Read verses 14-15. Why do you think we measure life by what we own? What has taught us to do that? What pressures do we feel that seem to make this an assumption for people regardless of their level of wealth?

START SHARING

Read Luke 12:16-21. In this story, how is this man measuring his life by what he owns? How have you found yourself doing that and how have you found that naturally leading you to some level of greed?

Share about how you have experienced a time when you accomplished a level of financial security that was greater than you had before or reached a goal for yourself in this area. How did this satisfy you and for how long? Did it make as big of a difference as you expected it to in terms of your life leaving an eternal mark? Why?

Read Luke 12:22-33, 30-31. What do you worry about the most in terms of "having enough"? If you truly follow Jesus and truly trust your Father, why should you not worry?

How have you experienced seeking the Kingdom first? Practically, what did that look like? How did it change or reduce your worry?
START DOING

Read Luke 12:33-34. What have you "sold" or sacrificed - or what can you sell or do without - so that you can invest in the Kingdom? What are ways that you can then give and invest so that...

...people far from God can discover and experience Jesus?
...people in financial or material need can have those needs met?

How does this put the Gospel on display? As radical as this command of Jesus is, is He asking you to do something He hasn't also done for you? How can you continue to increase your sacrifice and pursuit of the Kingdom so that it is the first thing you invest in for eternal impact?
START PRAYING

Pray for each other in the micro church to trust Jesus above all else, that what He says about the Father providing our needs will happen. Pray for each other to guard above all else any hint of greed in our lives. Pray that we will see many people who are far from God discover Jesus, and in the process see a giant mark left on the Kingdom, because we all accumulate our wealth in heaven rather than on this earth.
