Promotion Sunday
August 14 | School is starting soon and as of August 14 for our church, your child is officially in their rising grade. So - children entering Kindergarten will be promoted to upstairs K-4 Children’s Church. Students entering fifth grade are now officially in the teen group. They will stay in the Sunday service and attend youth group on Wednesday evenings. (If you are wondering - the prek switch on their birthdays.)
MOPS & MOMSnext
Our local MOPS Group, is starting their 2022-2023 meeting year. They meet 2 times a month on Fridays, 9am - 11am, (please check the calendar for dates) in the upstairs Children's Center. It is a time of togetherness for moms of preschool-aged children. Each meeting they have a special emphasis with projects, special speakers, and sharing the word of God. Children are well cared for by background-approved workers. Children have crafts, snacks, playtime, and Bible stories. MOPS will be having an open house on Friday, August 19 from 9:30-10:30am. They invite you to join them and bring a friend. Their first actual meeting will be on August 26, from 9-11am. For more information and to contact a group member - use https://www.mops.org/groups/manteno. We also have a local MOMSnext group, which is geared towards mothers of kids in school. They meet every other Tuesday night at 7pm. There is no childcare provided as this is a much-deserved night out for moms. Again, the best way to get more information is https://www.mops.org/groups/momsnextmanteno
Griefshare
Saturdays | Starting August 20 | 10am | GriefShare, a special help seminar and support group for people experiencing grief and loss, is starting back up again on August 20. This round, they are meeting on Saturday mornings. It is a 13-week cycle that you can join at any time. Contact Pat Bialecke, 815-353-5804 for more information.
Getting Ready for Company
Some exciting changes are coming and we have your friends in mind! To offer a better experience for first-time attendees, beginning Sunday, August 21 we will be staffing a welcome desk to answer questions, offer a welcome packet, and help families get their children registered. The Kids Check-In that you’re used to will continue, but you’ll find it next to the welcome desk near the main entrance. Invite your friends to come early, pick up their welcome packet, and join you for coffee (right outside the sanctuary). New arrangements, updated signage, and fresh paint. We’ll go to great lengths to welcome your friends. We’re getting ready for company!
Journey Groups
Several new Journey Groups are launching the week of Labor Day. We’ll be offering Bible studies (Genesis , Esther, The Minor Prophets, Matthew, 1 Peter), life-phase groups (emerging adults, parents of kids and teens, 55+) as well as a group for men, groups for women and a group for new believers and those exploring faith. Various days and times will be offered. Several groups are being offered on Wednesday nights between September 7 and November 16 concurrent with our regular programming for kids and middle school students (we’re adding a nursery as well!). Each Wednesday we will also be offering dinner for any and all who would like to come (donations accepted). Wherever you are on the journey, we have a group for you! Look for more information and registration coming soon.
Pregnancy Resource Center
If you would like to donate to the Pregnancy Resource Center, we have baby bottles to fill with change available at the welcome center. Please return them to the church by September 1.

Glorious Day
Verse 1
I was buried beneath my shame
Who could carry that kind of weight
It was my tomb 'til I met You
Verse 2
I was breathing but not alive
All my failures I tried to hide
It was my tomb 'til I met You
Chorus
('Cause when) You called my name (and)
I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness into Your glorious day
You called my name (and) I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness into Your glorious day
Verse 3
Now Your mercy has saved my soul
Now Your freedom is all that I know
The old made new Jesus when I met You
Bridge
I needed rescue my sin was heavy
But chains break at the weight of Your glory
I needed shelter I was an orphan
Now You call me a citizen of Heaven
When I was broken You were my healing
Now Your love is the air that I'm breathing
I have a future my eyes are open

There's nothing worth more that will ever come close
No thing can compare You're our living hope
Your Presence

I've tasted and seen of the sweetest of loves
Where my heart becomes free and my shame is undone
In Your Presence Lord
Chorus
Holy Spirit You are welcome here
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere
Your glory God is what our hearts long for
To be overcome by Your Presence Lord

In Christ Alone
Verse 1
In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light my strength my song
This Cornerstone this solid Ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love what depths of peace
When fears are stilled when strivings cease
My Comforter my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand
Verse 2
In Christ alone who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
Till on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live
Verse 3
There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
Verse 4
No guilt in life no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand

The Lord is my Shepherd
He goes before me
