hey
“Let’s make lots of money!”

- The Pet Shop Boys
Does money really matter to Jesus?
- “The Parable of the Shrewd Manager” (the nice name)
- “The Parable of the Unrighteous Servant” (not so nice name)

Luke 16:1-8

1. He knew he was facing a deadline
2. He formulated a plan
3. He acted before the opportunity was gone
“Do we have a creative plan to influence our world before that deadline?”
“What’s your plan? I’ve given you the Holy Spirit to live inside of you, I’ve given you spiritual gifts and I’ve given you physical resources…what’s your plan?”

Luke 16:14

1 Timothy 6:9-10

Life Lesson # 1 – We must use our money and possessions and influence to gain eternal friends

Luke 16:9

1. Potter’s House
2. The Joshua Center
3. Global Outfitters
4. New Heights Church itself – the big Circle in the middle
Life Lesson # 1 – We must use our money and possessions and influence to gain eternal friends

Life Lesson # 2 – We must be trustworthy with God’s resources

Luke 16:10-12

Psalms 16:10-11

Luke 16:11

Do you think God is going to reward you in eternity if you’ve wasted away the opportunities and material things that He’s given you on this earth?
Did we use our worldly wealth for eternal souls?
"Well, if Jesus was God who died to save me, shouldn’t I be willing to give up my life to see his salvation come to others?”
Only one life,’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, yes only one,
So let me say,”Thy will be done”;

And when at last I’ll hear the call, I know I’ll say “twas worth it all”;

Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.
Life Lesson # 1 – We must use our money and possessions and influence to gain eternal friends

Life Lesson # 2 – We must be trustworthy with God’s resources

Life Lesson # 3 - Money is a great servant but a terrible master
1. Do we think and worry about money frequently?
2. Do we give up doing Kingdom things in order to make more money?
3. Do we spend too much of our time caring for our possessions?
4. Is it hard for us to give money away?
5. Are we in a significant amount of debt?

Matthew 6:19-21

Luke 16:9
