Are we obedient when the Holy Spirit speaks to us?
Do we recognize His voice?
When you are seeking God’s will:
(1) Seek God’s Word - make sure your plan is in harmony with God’s Word – God leads us through His written Word,
(2) ask mature Christians for their advice – God leads us through the counsel of wise, qualified, trustworthy people,
(3) Pray for His will - check your own motives to see if you are seeking to do what you want or what you think God wants (His will or your will?) God leads us through the inner promptings of the Holy Spirit,
(4) Pray for peace - God leads us into His will by giving us an inner assurance of peace, and
(5) pray for God to open and close doors as He desires.
A door that is closed by God can mean several things.
1) God is protecting you from harm or trouble.
2) The timing isn’t right for us to go through that door yet because God is either preparing things on the other side of the door or preparing our hearts or both.
3) God might close a door simply to get us to go in a different direction to reach someone He wanted us to reach or to reach the place He was trying to get us to go.
“Whenever your desires disagree with what God wants, you are speaking outside of His will” – Tony Evans from the book ‘Watch Your Mouth’
As God closes some doors, He is preparing the door He will open for you to go through!
Be patient as you wait on God but keep moving and working as you wait and follow where God is guiding, moving away from doors He has closed as He confirms the open door for you to go through.
