The phrase “Four Corners” is an expression which means the four points of the COMPASS.
These winds represent the WRATH of God.

God sends an angel from the East. East means “the rising of the sun,” an angel of MERCY to seal the servants of God.

In ancient times kings had a SIGNET ring, a ring with a small seal that was engraved on it.
A seal was a sign of POSSESSION. Anything containing the king’s seal belonged to the king.
The seal is also a sign of PROTECTION. Ownership assumes responsibility of God protecting His people. It’s a sign of POWER.
This seal was also VISIBLE as we see in verse three. This seal was placed on the foreheads of God’s servants.
