A Statement on Human Existence | Psalm 1:1-6
A. The Skinny on Psalms
1. The title of the book:
a. Psalms (Tehillim) means, "Psalms of praise."
b. Psalms were meant to be sung with joy.
c. Psalms were a collection of poems and prayers that can be described as, "an abstract of both testaments."
2. The author of the book:
a. The Holy Spirit
b. Shepherd/King David
c. Various others (Asaph, Moses)
3. The intention of the book:
a. To assist in the exercise of faith
b. To advance the excellence of God
c. To bring a statement on what human existence looks like
B. The Happiness of the Righteous
1. The righteous will be blessed.
2. The righteous find delight in God's Word.
3. The righteous will bear fruit.
C. The Chaff of the Ungodly
1. The ungodly will not be blessed.
2. The ungodly find delight in the temporary.
3. The ungodly will not stand.
D. The Choice of Every Human
1. Who/What are my influence?
2. What do I delight in?
3. Where does my nourishment come from?
4. What path am I on?
Bottom Line: God has designed a world where the right decisions are the best decisions.
