UNRIVALED TRUTH
Ephesians 4:13-16

How well are you LIVING out the TRUTH of scripture?

How well are you SHOWING THE LOVE of Jesus to others?
WEEK ONE:
Relationships that stick must have UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.

WEEK TWO:
Relationships that stick must have UNWAVERING DEVOTION.

LAST WEEK:
Relationships that stick must practice UNWARRANTED FORGIVENESS.
1. UNRIVALED TRUTH opens the door for spiritual GROWTH.

Ephesians 4:13...
...until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,
EDIFICATION...
- building others up
- making others better
- improving the life of those we love.
- unifying faith
- furthering knowledge
- maturing
- growing in stature
- filling up our lives to the fullness of Christ.
2. Truth keeps us LEVEL-HEADED when circumstances want to trip us up.

Ephesians 4:14...
...so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.
Level-headed means wise, sober-minded.
- Caring what wisdom has to say about a situation.
- Using sound judgment.
- Making smart decisions when the rest of the world doesn’t.
- Thoughtful. Careful. Considerate.

Empty-headed means unwise.
- Not caring to make wise/smart decisions.
- Thoughtless
- Careless
- Inconsiderate
What circumstances or situations trip us up the most?
- Doctrine...what we believe about...
- Who God is...
- What God does...
- How God wants to use us in this life...
- Why the Bible is true/right in all circumstances,,,
- Humanity...what we know about people...
- Many don’t believe in God...
- They don’t want you too either.
- They want you to fall into their own same problems.
- Misery loves company.

The Enemy...
- Anyone who wants to lead you away from God.
- Satan...
- The World...
- Friends with the world makes us enemies of God.

1 Peter 5:8-9 tells us about this enemy...
8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.
3. Speaking the Truth in love UNIFIES us in Christ. It’s the most UNSELFISH thing we can do for others.

Ephesians 4:15...
Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into Him who is the head, into Christ...
Is it LOVING or UNIFYING at all when you keep the truth from someone?
What does the Bible say about Truth...
- TRUTH is referenced 139 times in Scripture...46 in the OT...93 in the NT

Open door to real worship...Woman at the Well
John 4:23-24...
But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship Him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

*** KIDS #1: We LISTEN when others speak the TRUTH in love us.

Open door to freedom...
John 8:31-32...
31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

*** KIDS #2: We ACCEPT the TRUTH because we believe God will use it in our lives.

Open door to who Jesus is...
John 14:6...
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

*** KIDS #3: We BELIEVE the TRUTH because Jesus always lived it out with His life.

Open door to the Holy Spirit...
John 16:13...
When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth, for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak, and He will declare to you the things that are to come.

Truth reminds us of the unifying work we are called to. It’s the same work Jesus and the Holy Spirit were called to.

Look at these verses back in Ephesians 4:1-6...
1 I urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, 2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, 3 eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
“There is no dividing the Trinity in their quest for the world to know Truth. And there is no division in their call on our lives to make the Truth known to our part of the world. Why would our call be any different than Jesus’ call if we claim the title Christians?”
EQUIP...to provide, prepare for whatever is needed; to furnish with spiritual, intellectual, or emotional resources.

*** KIDS 4: We ACT by the TRUTH because it’s important to obey God and show love.
2 Peter 1:3...
His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence.
hey
