3 DAILY CHOICES I MUST MAKE TO MANAGE MY MIND

1. I MUST FEED MY MIND WITH TRUTH

“People need more than bread for their life; they must feed on every Word of God.”
Matthew 4:4 (NLT)

WHEN SHOULD I FEED MY MIND WITH GOD’S TRUTH? ALL THE TIME!

“I rise early...to cry out for help and to put my hope in your words.”
Psalm 119:147 (NLT)

“Lord, how I love your Word. I think about it all day long.”

“Even in the darkest of night, your teachings fill my mind.”

2. I MUST FREE MY MIND FROM DESTRUCTIVE THOUGHTS

You have good intentions to fill your mind with the truth on a daily basis. I want to live the way God wants me to live. I want to know God better. I want to fill my mind with truth. I want to feed on the Word of God, but none of that ground is given up easily. Satan's going to fight you on it and he's going to battle you and you're going to have to fight to free your mind. Why? Because of these three enemies.

The Three Enemies that Battle Your Brain?

Enemy #1: MY OLD NATURE
“I see in my body a principle at war with the law of my mind, taking me captive to the law of sin that dwells inside me.”
Romans 7:23 (NAB)

I don't have to believe everything I think.

“Those who are dominated by their old sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.”

Enemy #2: SATAN
Paul: “(I’ve forgiven that man) so that Satan won’t outsmart us. For we’re very familiar with his evil schemes!”

Enemy #3: THE WORLD’S VALUES
“All that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of this world.”

3. I MUST FOCUS MY MIND ON THE RIGHT THINGS

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable---if anything is excellent or praiseworthy---think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me---put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
