Five Questions for Life
Deuteronomy 6:1-12
“Now this is the commandment, the statutes and the judgments which the Lord your God has commanded me to teach you, that you might do them in the land where you are going over to possess it, so that you and your son and your grandson might fear the Lord your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged. O Israel, you should listen and be careful to do it, that it may be well with you and that you may multiply greatly, just as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey. Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. Then it shall come about when the Lord your God brings you into the land which He swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you, great and splendid cities which you did not build, and houses full of all good things which you did not fill, and hewn cisterns which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant, and you eat and are satisfied, then watch yourself, that you do not forget the Lord who brought you from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.”
Healthy Home is our ongoing effort to help people build strong spiritual foundations and pass them on to future generations. We focus on five questions that, when we understand God’s answers, will transform us and help us to be healthy Christ followers.
The Five Questions
1. Who is God and what is truth?
2. Who was I created to be?
3. Who are my people?
4. Do I pursue healthy relationships?
5. Why am I here and what is my purpose?
1. Who is God and what is truth?

“Now this is the commandment, the statutes and the judgments which the Lord your God has commanded me to teach you…” v. 1
Exodus 20:2-3
“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods before Me.”
“…the Lord, the God of your fathers…” v. 3

“…the Lord is our God, the Lord is one!” v. 4

“…He swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob…” v. 10
If we do not know who GOD is, we cannot say what TRUTH is.
Psalm 78:6-7
That the generation to come might know, even the children yet to be born, that they may arise and tell them to their children, that they should put their confidence in God and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments…
2. Who was I created to be?

Deuteronomy 6:1-2
“…that you might do them in the land where you are going over to possess it, so that you and your son and your grandson might fear the Lord your God…”
We are created to be either male or female and to relate to each other and to God with purpose and clarity.
If we do not help the next generation answer the question “who was I created to be?” then our culture will provide its own answer.
3. Who are my people?

“Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one!” v. 4
Without the church, we lose encouragement, accountability, and real life examples of how to live faith out.
4. Do I pursue healthy relationships?

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.” v. 5
Matthew 22:37-39
And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”
6. What is my purpose?

Deuteronomy 6:6, 12
These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently…that you do not forget the Lord who brought you from the land of Egypt…”
Ephesians 2:10
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
