WEEK #1:
1 Corinthians 15:1-11 –
- The GOSPEL is the greatest news that can ever be shared!

WEEK 2:
1 Corinthians 15:12-19 –
- The GOSPEL is a lie if Jesus wasn’t resurrected from the dead.

LAST WEEK:
1 Corinthians 15:20-34...
- Our RANSOM is paid. We’ve been REDEEMED.
- Our REDEEMER will RETURN.
- REDEMPTION is not a REALITY postmortem.
- When our REDEEMER returns, we better be READY!
RESURRECTED BODIES
1 Corinthians 15:35-49
1. Just like our REDEEMER, death is part of our RESURRECTION.

1 Corinthians 15:35-41...
35 But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body do they come?” 36 You foolish person! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. 37 And what you sow is not the body that is to be, but a bare kernel, perhaps of wheat or of some other grain. 38 But God gives it a body as He has chosen, and to each kind of seed its own body. 39 For not all flesh is the same, but there is one kind for humans, another for animals, another for birds, and another for fish. 40 There are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is of one kind, and the glory of the earthly is of another. 41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory.
2. Our REDEEMER will RESURRECT NEW - not RESTORE OLD.

1 Corinthians 15:42-48...
42 So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. 43 It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. 44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 45 Thus it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46 But it is not the spiritual that is first but the natural, and then the spiritual. 47 The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven. 48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are of the dust, and as is the man of heaven, so also are those who are of heaven.

Sown here is old, outdated, and destined to die.

v. 42 - Perishable
- decaying, short-lived, destructible, dying daily
- subject to decay, ruin or destruction

v. 43 - Sown in Dishonor
- born into sin, disgrace, at enmity with God
- deprived of honor, bring reproach or shame on
- the cause of shame or disgrace

v. 43 - Sown in Weakness
- lacking strength; feeble
- inadequate or defective quality

v. 44 - Sown in Natural
- flesh & bone; created; born
ADAM gave us...
- A natural body perfectly suited for this earthly environment.
- Once imperishable, became perishable because of the Fall.
- Disobedient mankind became mortal – aging, deteriorating, dying.

Genesis 1:27...originally made perfect & in the image of God

Genesis 3:19...dust we came, dust shall we return

Raised there is new, heavenly, glorified, destined for all eternity.
v. 42 - Imperishable
- eternal, indestructible, living forever

v. 43 - Raised in glory
- immortal, victorious, renowned, magnificent

v. 43 - Raised in power
- the power that raised Jesus from the grave-kind-of-power

v. 44 - Spiritual
Divine, supernatural, holy, prepared for all eternity
JESUS will give us then...
- a supernatural body that can inherit the Kingdom
- a perfect body suitable for pleasing & praising God throughout eternity
- a body raised imperishable...no more sickness, decay or death.
3. Your REDEEMER will let us bear His image forever.

1 Corinthians 15:49...
Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.
“We get a glimpse of what our resurrection bodies will be like when we recall Jesus’ post-resurrection appearances. He still had visible wounds, and His disciples could physically touch Him, yet He was able to travel effortlessly and appear and disappear at will. He could go through walls and doors yet could also eat and drink and sit and talk...Indeed, the physical limitations imposed by sin that hinder our ability to fully serve Him on earth will be forever gone, freeing us to praise and serve and glorify Him for eternity.”
Philippians 3:20-21...
20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body to be like His glorious body, by the power that enables Him even to subject all things to Himself.
ARE YOU READY?

Is your citizenship in heaven?

Are you awaiting His return?

If you are, who around you isn’t?
hey
