1 Corinthians 15:1-11...

1 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 5 and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 Then He appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared also to me. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. 11 Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.
“The most noteworthy person in your life should be the one who worked the hardest to help you believe in Jesus Christ. They set the example, answered your questions, and helped nurture you spiritually toward the Lord. This is the most noble task anyone can perform for someone else.”
1. The GOSPEL is the greatest news that can ever be shared.

1 Corinthians 15:1-12...
1 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.

The GOSPEL is what God does for you...
God Offering Sinful People Eternal Life.

God’s Only Son Providing Eternal Life.

The GOSPEL and Can We Talk – Ephesians 2:4-10...
G - God’s character...rich in mercy, because of His great love...v. 4

O - Offense of sin...dead in our transgression...v.5

S - Sufficiency of Christ...made alive with Christ, raised us, seated us...v.5-6

P - Personal response...grace you’ve been saved through faith...v.8-9

E - Eternal urgency...in the ages to come...v. 7
Did you make a profession without possession?
2. The GOSPEL holds the greatest truths that must be believed.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4...
3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,

What’s the most important news you might could hear today?

In the scope of eternity – these things are tops...
- Christ died for you
- Freed you from the prison of sin you were in
- He was buried
- Three days, paying the full penalty of all those sins

On the third day, He rose again – giving power to everything He ever said He would do for you

Catch that phrase... “accordance with the Scriptures...”
- Jesus said what the Bible said.
- Jesus did what the Bible said He’d do.
- Jesus set the example for what we should do in our own lives.
3. The GOSPEL holds the greatest proofs that have ever been proven.

1 Corinthians 15:5-8...
5 and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 Then He appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared also to me.

Can a person be convicted on the testimony of one eyewitness?

Yes.

All it takes is one person’s testimony to prove someone is guilty or innocent of something. Here Jesus made for sure that His story was credible, reliable and believable.

Who were these eyewitnesses...
Cephas...Peter...
- first to confess Jesus as “the Christ, the Son of the Living God”
- was part of Jesus’ inner circle
- only one to walk on water
- the Rock on which Jesus began His church movement

The Twelve...
- these were the first to believe and follow Jesus
- they were deserving to see that Jesus had risen
- they went from frightened to fierce in sharing the Gospel

500 brothers at one time...
- disciples in Galilee

Why these men?...so the Gospel would go worldwide based on their eye-witness testimony.

James...
- Jesus' half brother

Jesus' apostles...
- because their work was dependent on being eye-witnesses of Jesus’ life, His death, His resurrection and His call to be the church.

Paul...
- He calls Paul from a life of persecuting the church to leading the church
4. The GOSPEL holds the greatest proofs that have ever been proven.

1 Corinthians 15:9-11...

Can you base your spiritual convictions on what these men and women believed and saw in Jesus’ life all of those years ago?
"Jesus did all of this in full view of the public, not so you could go underground and make your faith in Him a private matter. He did it so you would literally live out your faith in such a way that others would in turn believe in Jesus as well.”
