Temptation – to entice or induce, as to something immoral; to risk or provoke

What are the temptations in your life? Make a list! Then, go back and examine the list. Beside each temptation, decide what effect the temptation has on you or is hoping to have on you. Is it an unhealthy habit … or fractured relationship … or undue debt … or worry? How do you face your temptations? Do you have a strategy?

Dependency – determined by something else; rely on for support

What are you dependent on in your life? Make a list! Then, go back and examine the list. Does your dependency bring you comfort? Are you okay with this reality? Are there things that you wish you could change? Do you feel trapped by any situation? How would you define dependency on God? Are you dependent on God? What does it look like in your day-to-day life?

Synthesis – the combining of parts or elements so as to from a whole

Jesus entered into the wilderness and faced temptation. It stands to reason that you will. Jesus determined to face the difficulties of his life by relying on God. He took time to fast from all that would distract him, and focus on God’s promises. He knew scripture and relied on its truth to guide him. How are you walking with Jesus? Are you focusing on Jesus instead of worldly temptations? Are you spending time in God’s Word instead of allowing other things to fill your schedule?

God loves you! And, wants to empower you to face your temptations with power … and journey through your valleys with hope. What can you do today to shift your focus and be in sync with God’s desire for you?
