CONVERSATION STARTERS
Conversation Starters help us dig deeper, connecting Sunday’s sermons with our Monday lives. These prompts have been designed to help Community Groups grow in their relationship with God, with one another, and with their neighbors. Please know that these questions are meant to be a resource to you. You do not have to follow them verbatim or get through them all. We trust you to know your group and to ask the questions based on your group needs.

1. Think of a time when your authority or work was questioned or challenged. What was your initial reaction?

2. Read John 3:25-30. What clues do we get about John the Baptist’s relationship with Jesus when John’s disciples compare their ministries?

3. If we believe that God designed us with gifts and talents to use, and longs for us to grow and flourish, what does ‘He must increase, but I must decrease’ mean for us? What needs to decrease?

4. Think about your eulogy - at the end of your life would it be said that you were a disciple of Christ, or something else? If not, what needs to be reordered in your life?

PRAYER PROMPT
Pray over any areas of your lives that have increased in position, causing your focus and your commitment to Christ to take a back seat. Pray that the good things would not become ultimate things.
Title: John the Baptist
Scripture: John 3:22-36
Speaker: Reid Kapple, ReidK@cckc.church
> Jesus must be greater.
> Decrease comparing and complaining
> Increase delighting and declaring

“It’s not just that the other person is better; it is that by comparison their superiority makes you feel your own lack, your own inferiority, more acutely...If we reflect on whom we envy, we are likely to discover how we define our own identity and where we see that identity as most vulnerable.” -Rebecca DeYoung
