CONVERSATION STARTERS
Conversation Starters help us dig deeper, connecting Sunday’s sermons with our Monday lives. These prompts have been designed to help Community Groups grow in their relationship with God, with one another, and with their neighbors. Please know that these questions are meant to be a resource to you. You do not have to follow them verbatim or get through them all. We trust you to know your group and to ask the questions based on your group needs.

1. Think of a time when your authority or work was questioned or challenged. What was your initial reaction?

2. Read John 3:25-30. What clues do we get about John the Baptist’s relationship with Jesus when John’s disciples compare their ministries?

3. If we believe that God designed us with gifts and talents to use, and longs for us to grow and flourish, what does ‘He must increase, but I must decrease’ mean for us? What needs to decrease?

4. Think about your eulogy - at the end of your life would it be said that you were a disciple of Christ, or something else? If not, what needs to be reordered in your life?

PRAYER PROMPT
Pray over any areas of your lives that have increased in position, causing your focus and your commitment to Christ to take a back seat. Pray that the good things would not become ultimate things.

Prayer Requests

As a staff it is a privilege to pray for our congregation. Social distance does not change that! If you are in need of prayer click the link to fill out an online prayer request.

John 3:22-36

Title: John the Baptist
Scripture: John 3:22-36
Speaker: Gabe Coyle, GabeC@cckc.church
> If you want joy, receive God’s call to get out the way.
> Called vs. Driven
"Just yesterday I was asked the question, How am I to conquer this pride? The answer was simple. Two things are needed. Do that which God says is your work and humble yourself. Trust Him to do what He says is His work; He will exalt you."
- Andrew Murray, Humility
> Are you called by God or driven by yourself?
> Do you have joy or jealousy?
> Stop pretending to be god in your life.
> Where do you need to get out the way?
> Start training to get out the way today.
"We have to fashion our own desert where we can withdraw every day, shake off our compulsions, and dwell in the gentle healing presence of our Lord."
- Henri Nouwen
“In a world where success is the measure and justification of all things, the figure of him who was sentenced and crucified remains a stranger.”
- Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Ethics
