Beyond Sunday
The Book of Acts details the start of the early church. In this seven-week series, we will call ourselves to strive toward our six PCC values as we are inspired by those who did the same as they established the Church. And if we do so, both individually and corporately, we will experience freedom and become a part of His glorious movement in a needy world. This week we reflect on what it means to Seek Justice.
1. Which of the values discussed so far are your easiest to live into or your hardest? [Live the Word, Share Jesus, Relate Well, Give Generously]
2. How would you describe what it means to Seek Justice? How is biblical justice different from social justice? How might they overlap?
3. How are these passages Act 6:1-6 /Acts 10:34-35 in the book of Acts reflecting Seeking Justice and why are they still such important examples to the church today?
4. Reflect on these three key aspects of Justice and the corresponding passages. How do they help or hinder your thoughts on the importance of seeking justice? And what is the role of love in seeking justice?
a. God is just & loves justice (Deuteronomy 32:4) (Psalm 33:5)
b. Jesus lived & died for the Justice of us all (Luke 4:18)
c. The Spirit leads us in our call to Justice (Micah 6:8) (James 1:27)
5. If to Seek Justice is to “make right what is not right” in the eyes of God, what do you see around you (locally, nationally, globally) that stirs a “Holy Anger” in you that you want to do something about?
6. What small or large steps could you take to begin to Seek Justice based on your Holy Anger? And who could help or might you partner with?
